In September 2025, the China Electric Power Planning & Engineering Institute (EPPEI) officially completed and commissioned its Real-Time Digital Simulation System Laboratory. The Simulation Center serves as a branch laboratory of the State Key Laboratory of Power System Planning and Engineering.

Equipped with an advanced, fully digital real-time power system simulation platform, the Simulation Center can accurately simulate complex power system operational scenarios and provide a high-precision simulation environment. Focusing on various research and engineering applications for new-type power systems, the Simulation Center has carried out in-depth real-time control hardware-in-the-loop simulations for source-grid-load-storage integration projects with multiple energy sources. Additionally, the Simulation Center is actively engaged in scientific research and application exploration in areas such as grid connection testing for wind and solar power stations, fault simulations, power delivery characteristics of large-scale wind and solar power bases, integrated intelligent control, network performance enhancement for grid-connected equipment, and the application of artificial intelligence in power system operations.
These efforts provide crucial technical support for EPPEI’s simulation modeling and testing in the areas of new-type power system planning and consulting, system design, technological R&D, simulation verification, engineering construction, and operation and maintenance.
