In December 2024, the first issue of IET Smart Energy Systems, the English-language journal hosted by the China Electric Power Planning & Engineering Institute (EPPEI), was officially granted its International Standard Serial Number (ISSN): Print ISSN 3065-9647; Online ISSN 3065-9655.

IET Smart Energy Systems is an open-access journal jointly established by EPPEI, North China Electric Power University (NCEPU), and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). The editorial board is composed of 56 renowned scholars from 48 research institutions and universities across 12 countries and regions, all recognized for their high international academic reputation and influence. The journal is scheduled for official publication in 2025, with full-text access available via Wiley Online Library.

The journal aims to become a multidisciplinary, globally recognized publication focusing on the theory and applications of smart energy systems. It will primarily publish original research findings, technological innovations, and development trends in the planning, design, integration, modeling, simulation, and control of smart energy systems.
