On September 13, 2023, the International Energy Agency (IEA), the China Electric Power Planning & Engineering Institute (EPPEI), and the Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI) co-hosted an international webinar themed “Reforming China’s Electricity Market and Accelerating the Transition to Clean Energy”.
During the webinar, the China Electric Power Planning and Engineering Institute (EPPEI) delivered a keynote speech titled “Exploration of China’s New Energy Electricity Markets and Green Certification”. The speech provided a comprehensive interpretation of the new energy development in China, including the ways, significance, challenges, and recommendations for new energy participation in the electricity market, as well as the latest requirements of China’s green certification system. During the roundtable, EPPEI and experts from domestic and international electricity markets conducted in-depth discussions on “Adjusting Market Tools to Adapt to Renewable Energy Electricity and Emerging Market Entities”.
The webinar focused on the reform of the electricity market in the context of energy transition. Experts conducted comprehensive and professional discussions on topics such as the practice, reforms, flexible resources, and market regulatory tools of the electricity market in China and across the world. Attendees included about 5,000 representatives from the State Grid Corporation of China, Florence School of Regulation, China Electric Power Research Institute, and Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis (IEEFA), among other energy and electricity companies, international organizations, and research institutes at home and abroad.
